Theme: Changing the Narrative

TEDxBauchi is an independently organized TED event to be held in Bauchi, Bauchi State. It is one of its kind that will bring together some of the brightest thinkers and doers from around Nigeria and the rest of the world to gather, connect and establish collaboration to develop a blueprint on how to make great ideas have big impacts in areas of governance, business, education, health, economy entrepreneurship and innovation among others. TEDxBauchi would mark out the pathway to co-create and generate ideas. Ambition alone is not enough to bring about the kind of impact we want to see in our society. Together, we must convert ambition into practical ideas that would generate the right positive impacts in our society.

Just like other TEDx Talks, TEDxBauchi looks to inspire the community through the power of IDEAS WORTH SPREADING. We are not looking at only inspiring our immediate community, we are looking at inspiring the world by leveraging the over 36.7 million subscribers to the TEDx Talks YouTube Channel spread across all countries of the world.

Following the completion of other events namely (TEDxKofarFada and TEDxKangere) TEDxBauchi was conceived by a group of young people with a passion for making impacts in Bauchi State and beyond. Our desired outcome is that TEDxBauchi will be the birth of great ideas that would make significant impacts in people's lives and society. Our event seeks to bring people of all ages, gender, tribes, religions, and political ideology to come together and co-create solutions through the generation of ideas that will improve our communities.

Aisha Ali-Gombe

Founder, System Security (SySec) Lab

Aisha Ali-Gombe is an associate professor in the Division of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), at Louisiana State University (LSU). She earned her Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science with a major in Computer Science and a concentration in Information Assurance from the University of New Orleans. Dr. Ali-Gombe is currently the director of the LSU Cybersecurity Clinic and the founder of the System Security (SySec) Lab. Her expertise and research interest are in cybersecurity and digital forensics with a specific focus in malware and threat detection, cybercrime investigation, privacy policy enforcement, access control, and intrusion detection. She has authored and co-authored more than 40 publications some of which have been featured in top-rated cybersecurity and digital forensics journals and conferences. She’s won the FCSM research excellence award at Towson University, best paper awards at DRFWS in 2021 and 2022 and an outstanding poster award at CODASPY 2016 etc.

Eugenia Abu

Creative Director, The Eugenia Abu Media (TEAM)

Eugenia Abu is a Nigeria’s frontline award-winning broadcast journalists. She won the prestigious Nigeria media merit award for best newscaster in 2015. Eugenia anchored the National Television News for 17 years and later Became the Executive Director of Programs. She is currently the Creative Director of the Essential Communications and Managing partner of her eponymous brand, The Eugenia Abu Media, TEAM. In her long and rewarding career, Eugenia has interviewed top level personalities including Presidents and Nobel laureates. Her portfolio includes President Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, President Obasanjo, President Yoweri Museveni, Professor Wole Soyinka and Nadine Gordimer among several others. Mrs. Abu has earned her stripes as a much sought-after National and International compere and moderator and was the Master of ceremony for the inauguration of Presidents Yaradua and Jonathan and the National compere for President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration dinner in 2019.

Jamila Idris

CEO, MilaRis Consult Ltd

Jamila Idris is an entrepreneur, performance management and organizational development expert. She is an alumnus of the prestigious Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship (KIF), she has multidisciplinary experience working in the academia, development sector and public service. She is Africa’s foremost performance through sleep practitioner and the creator of the High-Performance Accelerator, a unique coaching program that helps experts, executives and emerging leaders get the most important tasks done and create desired results without stress. Jamila is a mental health professional and an advocate for mental health awareness. She has coached clients in different and diverse fields including high-level entrepreneurs. She has served in leadership capacities internationally and has served as a member of key government decision-making councils.

King Bawa

Founder, YFK Entertaiment

King Bawa is a popular Nigerian artist better known by his stage name "Kheengz". He was born and bred in Niger State of Northern Nigeria. Kheengz obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U), Zaria. Undoubtedly, Kheengz can be said to be one of the major brands making big headlines in the northern rap scene with an overall credit for originality. Kheengz got his first recognition in August 2013, following the release of his debut mixtape "College Kid" which featured the likes of M.I. @Abaga, @Erigga and other dope artists. His latest body of work is his debut album “VOICE OF AREWA” which is currently still gaining success

Saied Sulaiman Tafida

Public Finance Management Specialist

Saied Tafida is a diplomat, working with the United Nations as the National Coordinator of Public Financing for SDGs at UNDP. He led the development of SDG financing frameworks to leverage public finance and other fiscal policies to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. He engages government policymakers and supports research and capacity development, particularly in Africa, to develop fiscal policies to achieve specific SDGs. He also facilitates meetings/partnerships (both virtual and physical) to support governments and policy drivers to build consensus and support for SDG-related financing policies. He is a multiple award winner both internationally and locally. He was recognized by President Barack Obama and US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry as a Young African Leader and International advocate of good governance and the Gates Foundation as SDG Goal-Keeper.
