TEDx Talk called TEDxMolos Women in Cyprus! In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created TEDx, a program of local, non-profit, voluntarily organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDxMolos Women is an official TEDx Talk in Cyprus, an annual TED-licensed event that celebrates the dynamic spirit of the Limassol and overall Cyprus community.

In 2024, the theme of our TEDx Talk in Cyprus is "Soft Power - New Era of Leadership." As global dynamics evolve, we are witnessing a lot of transformation led by women. They bring fresh perspectives and innovative leadership across all sectors. Their soft power helps bringing positive change and fostering collaboration. Thanks to them, we are building a more compassionate local and global community. Our TEDx speakers, local women from diverse fields, are at the forefront of this movement, leading change and fostering our society.

Alena Perminova

Serial entrepreneur, sextech and welltech expert, certified yoga teache

I am a serial entrepreneur, yogi, and single mother. I started my career 12 years ago and, three years ago, co-founded an application in the sexual well-being area that now has 20,000 paying users and operates in the US market. Additionally, I am working on a series of other wellness, mental health, and AI products in different roles, including mentor and advisor. I am a certified yoga instructor and embodiment facilitator. I practice yoga every day and am dedicated to sharing this knowledge. I believe that self-awareness helps build a healthy life and relationships. This self-awareness can permeate all areas of life, including career, love life, and motherhood. I would like to talk about the misconceptions surrounding modern female leadership. Taboos around female expression, sexuality, leadership, and the simple joy of living are everywhere.

Talent acquisition leader, HR innovator, champion for equitable leadership

Recruitment industry leader, business innovator, and advocate for pay transparency, work flexibility, and equitable leadership practices. As the Founder and CEO of Emerald Zebra, Donna leads a premier recruitment agency specialising in the Fintech, Tech, Finance, and iGaming sectors in Cyprus. With 24 years of experience, she has earned a reputation for excellence in talent acquisition and HR services. As an entrepreneur, she has founded and successfully exited multiple businesses in the recruitment and outsourcing sectors: Donna co-founded GRS Recruitment (Cyprus & Malta), Fairfax Yeaman, FX Careers, and Omega Executive, where she played a pivotal role in their growth and success. Donna is also a passionate advocate for pay transparency, work flexibility, and equitable leadership, leading a remote team in Cyprus. As the founder of HR PowerBreakfast Events in Cyprus, she empowers others to share their experiences and provides coaching to help people succeed in their careers.

Farah Shammas

Hospitality leader, sustainability advocate, vegan lifestyle champion

Farah Shammas is a dynamic leader and advocate for sustainable living, with a unique background that bridges the worlds of luxury hospitality, education, and veganism. Of Lebanese-British descent and residing in Limassol, Cyprus, she is the Managing Director of the prestigious St Raphael Resort and Marina, a five-star establishment known for its 272 suites and bedrooms, a 237-berth private marina, state-of-the-art conference facilities, an award-winning spa, and eight distinguished restaurants. Among these is Cyprus' first vegan hotel restaurant and the island’s pioneering fine dining Thai restaurant. Farah's academic journey began at the University of Birmingham, where she earned a BA (Hons) in Classical Literature and Civilisation. She later completed her MSc in Tourism Marketing at the University of Surrey and further specialized in Plant-based Nutrition through eCornell and the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.

Memnia Papadopoulou

Legal innovator, fintech expert, educational visionary

Memnia Papadopoulou is the Head of Legal for DC Sport Soft, a highly skilled legal professional with an impressive track record of resolving complex issues and crafting innovative, out-of-the-box solutions. A recognized advocate with the Cyprus Bar Association, she holds an LLB, an LLM, and an MBA. With over 10 years of experience, Memnia has distinguished herself through her deep understanding of both legal and business environments. As a strong advocate of soft power in leadership, Memnia exemplifies how women can lead with empathy, emotional intelligence, and influence rather than authoritarianism. Her commitment to enabling individuals to reach their full potential is evident in her visionary work with ICan Kids, ICan School, educational projects dedicated to providing high-level education opportunities. Through ICan School, Memnia not only fosters educational excellence but also embodies the principles of leadership that prioritize empowerment and growth.

Sandra Da Silva is the founder of Da Silva Training Academy, offering training services both locally and internationally. She is an ABNLP Accredited and Certified NLP Trainer based in Cyprus, with expertise in Timeline Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Life Coaching, Emotional Intelligence, and Corporate Wellbeing. Sandra is known for her engaging and energetic training style, and her ability to simplify complex concepts. With a rich background of 25 years in the corporate sector, Sandra brings extensive professional experience to her training programs. She is also a founding member and secretary of BPW-ESC. Sandra excels in crafting and delivering impactful training programs focused on essential soft skills, such as communication, problem-solving, emotional intelligence and corporate well-being. A master in helping people discover their strengths, talents, and motivations. Sandra believes that we all have the potential within to Be, Do and Have what we desire.
