Aswin Sekhar
Aswin Sekhar is the first professional meteor astronomer from India in modern times. His research on the effects of relativity and resonances in meteoroid streams, in particular, has made a significant contribution to the field of meteors. Over the last two years, Mr. Sekhar has been associated with the Paris Observatory in France. With this badge of achievement, he intends to encourage young Indians, especially those from remote areas like himself, to pursue science with greater passion.
At the Asteroids, Comets, Meteors Conference 2023 held in Flagstaff, Arizona, on June 21, he was one of 50 eminent scientists who received minor planet names from the IAU.
Dr. Neal Phillip
Dr. Phillip, the Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Environmental Sciences at Bronx Community College/City University of New York, holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, along with dual Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Meteorology. Among his fields of study are atmospheric and Climate change monitoring, STEM education, and water contamination. He has taken the initiative on projects including the installation of weather monitoring systems and the CUNY Greenhouse Gas monitoring program stations located in India. In addition, Dr. Phillip has obtained substantial funding and actively conducted seminars on sustainability and workshops on Antarctic research.
