Theme: Power of Inquiry

Inquiry is the spark that drives progress, fuels innovation, and deepens our understanding of the world. It is the courage to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and seek new perspectives. This theme celebrates the transformative potential of curiosity, with a special focus on the youth of today.
Young people are naturally curious, and unafraid to question the status quo and explore bold ideas. TEDxCarrollwoodDaySchool will highlight the fresh perspectives, boundless creativity, and unique insights that arise when young minds engage with the world’s challenges. Together, we’ll embark on a journey fueled by the power of inquiry—a journey where every question becomes a doorway to discovery and every voice holds the potential to inspire change.

I'm Owen Paul, and I've been at CDS since sixth grade, so I'm entering my fourth year here as a freshman. It isn't uncommon to see a student with so many extracurriculars and activities that every block in their schedule is filled up, leaving no room for anything else. In fact, many of my peers and even myself have often found ourselves in that situation. Whether the pressure to do this comes from the increasingly competitive college admissions environment, parents, or some other factor, there is no denying that it can leave the student feeling like they can't enjoy their life in the present. It is that feeling that inspired me to write this Ted Talk, which is about trying to achieve that balance between the life you live now and the life you want to have in the future.
