Theme: Finding a New Lens

As a private institution dedicated to promoting a love for lifelong learning, Menlo is excited to host their third-annual TEDx event. Menlo is located in the heart of Silicon Valley where startups and established companies are constantly innovating for the future. TEDxMenloSchool's 2024 event "Finding a New Lens" hopes to offer audience members a look into the future with speeches from the Menlo community and Bay Area experts from a variety of fields. Speakers will share personal experiences and inspire audience members to take action in their local communities. Join us on September 28, 2024 in Menlo School's Spieker Center.

Allison Kluger

Stanford Graduate School of Business: Organizational Behavior

Allison Kluger has over 25 years of experience in broadcast media and entertainment, from network television to new media platforms including electronic retail, interactive television, and digital media. She is also a freelance writer and media consultant. She has been nominated for an Emmy four times. She is a native New Yorker who graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a dual major in English and Communications from the Annenberg School of Communications. Her strength is working within all different broadcast and digital platforms and managing people of creative and technical expertise.

Chauncey McGlathery

Author of The Hero's Journey

Chauncey is dedicated to breaking down barriers to health and wellness. He has a background as a federal civil rights attorney in New York, overseeing police and corrections officers. As a public health policy manager, Chauncey focuses on voter education, advocacy training, and developing statewide policy agendas for marginalized populations. He collaborates with stakeholders to create targeted and achievable advocacy priorities. Chauncey also facilitates intersectional conversations among diverse groups and is committed to addressing structural inequities related to race, gender, and identity politics. He believes that increased awareness of these issues will foster greater compassion and inclusivity in interactions and advocacy.

Eshu Vinnakota

Menlo School Student

Eshu Vinnakota is a sophomore at Menlo School. He is a tech and Al enthusiast, music producer and is part of Ragazzi, an award-winning boys chorus. He wrote, produced, and released his debut album on all streaming platforms. He is deeply passionate about the use of technology to help us create, and not just consume. His talk reflects on the impact of Al on art and creativity.

Jackson Coleman

Menlo School Student

Jackson Coleman is a Senior at the Menlo School and a captain of the boys' water polo team. In his free time, you can find him at the driving range, working on his short game, or in the lab tinkering on a gadget. Your best bet though, is to see him in his room, tweaking new songs he's found. He reflects on this DJing hobby of his, and how it requires mastery in two disciplines: creative genius, and technical expertise.

Melanie Goldberg

Menlo School Student

Melanie Goldberg, a Menlo School senior, is the founder and captain of Menio's parliamentary debate team. Her interest in argumentation and group polarization stems from a decade of involvement in structured debate, focused group conversations, and addressing difficult topics with a myriad of audiences.

Ryan Dean

Menlo Upper School Faculty: Director of Learning Resources

Ryan Dean joined Menlo's History Department in 2011. He's since taught half a dozen history courses and served as Upper School History Department Chair. He has also served as a Junior and Senior Class Dean, Associate Director of Alumni Affairs, Upper School Admissions Associate, and co-director of Menlo's 2018 reaccreditation self-study. Before becoming an educator, he worked on Capitol Hill for three years. In his free time, he coaches his son's soccer and cross-country teams and follows his daughter around the Bay Area's beautiful parks.
