In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Designer Vinay Venkatraman is committed to creating a digitically inclusive world. A founding partner at the Copehhagen Institute of Interaction Design(CIID), Vinay aims to design for the populations of the world who don't have access to the latest tech gadget - "Frugal Digital" is the name he gives them. Vinay has helped developing strategies for companies like Nokia, Philips and more along with assisting teaching courses at various world class universities. His work has been exhibited during the Salone del Mobile(International Furniture Fair) in Milan. An advocate of sustainable development, Vinay uses TED platforms to talk about innovation, user centred methods and design for social change.
