TEDxNicosia resulted from a search for inspiration right here in Cyprus. With a full house in our first event we were convinced that inspiration and ideas worth spreading do exist and can thrive in Cyprus.

Since that inaugural event on November 30, 2011, a lot has happened in Nicosia, in Cyprus and the world. Locally, and starting with the positive, we now have a more vibrant, grassroots effort to regenerate an entrepreneurship ecosystem foster fresh ideas and nurture the bright minds in this country. On the other hand, Cyprus and its capital city, Nicosia, are facing their worst financial crisis in the last forty years. With the financial crisis in Cyprus at full steam, out of the woodwork comes the social value system that largely lead the country where it is today. Rather than ask: “What could we have done to prevent this?” in this TEDxNicosia event we encourage our audience to RE.Think. Re.Generate. Re.Act!

TEDxNicosia aspires to compel those who have been thinking; Generating and Acting upon their ideas, to RE-Think their approach, RE-Generate new vigor and, so that a collective positive force is created that cannot be marginalized. For those who have not been spending as much time thinking, generating and acting until now, we hope that TEDxNicosia becomes the catalyst to do so. In 2013, TEDxNicosia aspires to be a call to thought, hope and action and the beacon of light that reminds all of us living in Cyprus that there is hope and that hope is us.
