Management: Leading Wisely

Great management in a turbulent global economy has never been so important. Learning outcomes

TED's Leading Wisely will enable learners to:

  • Understand how and why management theory and practice has changed since its origins in the late 19th and early 20th centuries
  • Understand the impact of leadership style on employee motivation and performance
  • Identify strategies that increase employees' self-efficacy and productivity
  • Identify common distractions in the workplace and create more efficient and productive work spaces
  • Explore strategies for creating and managing more open, collaborative networks of employees and contributors
  • Explore gender attitudes in the workplace, including messages that managers may be sending which impact the retention and job satisfaction of female employees
  • Identify when and how outside experts and consultants can benefit managers and organizations
  • Understand how managers and employees must work together to set boundaries that establish a healthy work-life balance; and
  • Explore a broad set of metrics that organizations can use to measure their success.
