Why you should listen
While studying neuroscience at the University of Michigan, Annie Rauwerda started spending her free time editing Wikipedia and posting her favorite entries on social media. Her project Depths of Wikipedia has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker and more. She's a big fan of the eclectic discoveries one can make on Wikipiedia, including a list of lists of lists, helicopter prison escapes and sexually active popes. She has led edit-a-thons and live trivia shows across the United States and Canada. Her forthcoming book about Wikipedia will be released in 2025.In 2022, the Wikimedia Foundation named Rauwerda the Wikimedian of the Year in the media category. In the past, she has been a pilates instructor, nurse aide, research assistant, Americorps volunteer and swim coach. When she's not on Wikipedia, she likes to visit obscure museums, make perpetual stew and teach her cat how to read.
