Nat Keohane is president of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), a leading, independent voice for ambitious and effective policies and actions to address the world's energy and climate challenges. He is an economist with more than 20 years of energy and environmental policy experience in academia, government and the nonprofit sector. As an environmental advocate, he has been deeply involved in the development of a number of market-based policies to reduce climate pollution, including Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on climate change, high-integrity markets for tropical forest carbon, the international aviation sector's CORSIA program to limit emissions from air travel and California's cap-and-trade program.
As special assistant for Energy and Environment in the White House from 2011-2012, Keohane helped secure landmark climate and clean air protections under President Obama. A former Yale professor, he is a globally recognized expert on climate policy and the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and a widely used primer on market-based environmental policies. He received a PhD from Harvard University and a BA from Yale College.
